MY PHILOSOPHY:
We all have the innate ablility to heal ourselves and to
feel free, comfortable and alive in our bodies. Our bodies accumulate stress, traumas and injuries on a daily basis which
we often are unable to release, and in turn we experience pain and discomfort in our bodies. I belive that massage and yoga
are two tools that can be used to help us return to a balanced state of being by stretching and opening the body, releasing
areas of pain and fatigue, and providing a safe place for the mind to rest and renew. I view the client as the healer and
myself as the assistant in the healing process, and therefore encourage clients to communicate with me before and during the
session about what would be most helpful for them.
MY APPROACH TO BODYWORK:
John Barnes' method of Myofascial release and unwinding is at
the core of my approach to the body, in whichever form of bodywork I practice. I look for patterns in the body to find areas
that need to be released. I use a meditative, slow approach which can be gentle and extremely deep at once, integrating stretching
and movement when appropriate. I offer many different modalities including Thai, Shiatsu, Myofascial Release, Healing Stone,
Reiki, Swedish, Deep Tissue and energy work (See Types of Massage for more info on each of these).
WHO ARE MY CLIENTS? I work with people from all walks of life who want to reduce stress in
their lives and increase health, vitality and vibrance. I work with professionals dealing with pain due to sitting at a desk
all day, athletes recovering from injury, students seeking stress reduction, vacationers craving relaxation, women and men
living with cancer, auto-immune disease and depression (just to name a few!)
