Wise Touch Healing ~ Integrated Bodywork:
Many clients chose to have sessions which integrate various modalities. In these sessions, I draw from the many types
of bodywork I have studied, using your verbal and nonverbal cues as my guides for what would best serve your unique needs
at the time of the session.
Myofascial Release and Unwinding:
MFR uses a variety of techniques including deep and subtle touch, craniosacral work, stretching techniques, and movement
("unwinding") to release chronic holding patterns and eliminate pain. MFR is used to treat neck and back pain, headaches,
recurring sports injuries and scoliosis, among other conditions. Myofascial Release literally means releasing
the muscular (myo) and the fascial system. Fascia is the connective tissue which acts like a web that connects and encompasses
every organ, bone, muscle and cell in the body. The theory behind MFR is that releasing only the muscles, as we do in traditional
forms of massage therapy, will not create lasting results because the fascial system will pull the muscles and bones back
into the pattern they have been in. If the fascia and muscles are released, the body can reorganize so that lasting change
can take place. For more information please view John Barnes' website www.myofascialrelease.com
Swedish:
An oil- based massage using a variety of flowing strokes to invigorate or relax the body. Swedish massage can help the
body remove toxins, deliver nutrients to tissues and cells more efficiently, and recover from strains and trauma more quickly.
Deep Tissue:
Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue and the fascia. It aims to release the chronic patterns
of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep pressure on the tense or traumatized, constricted areas.
Shiatsu:
Shiatsu is based in the ancient Chinese system of meridians, or energy lines in the body. It uses a combination of stretching
and pressing on specific "tsubos", or points, along the meridians, using thumbs, fists and elbows to encourage movement of
"chi" (vital energy). Traditionally Shiatsu sessions are done fully clothed, but Shiatsu can also be integrated into an oil-based
massage.
Thai Massage:
Millennia-old, sacred form of bodywork, used to elongate the spine, decompress the body and relieve tension, while balancing
the mind, body and spirit. A gentle rhythmic, rocking motion is used while the body is stretched and pressure is applied to
points along the energy lines. The techniques used resemble acupressure, passive yoga therapy, and reflexology. Traditionally
done fully clothed on a floor mat, techniques may be adapted and integrated in table work.
Energy Work:
Incorporating techniques from Reiki, polarity and energy balancing, a flow of subtle energy is facilitated to areas of
tension, trauma and injury. Blocked energy in the body is released, promoting deep relaxation. Benefits include pain management
and a heightened sense of well being.
Healing Stones Massage:
Basalt Stones are heated and used as an extension of the therapist's hand to deeply
penetrate the muscles and fascia and release tension, while marble and other cold-retaining stones are iced and used to soothe
areas preventing inflammation. Stones may also be used to heal energetic difficiencies by placing them over the chakra centers.
A deeply relaxing and therapeutic modality.
